The Science of Interacting and Communicating with Young Children

Parent Edition

This eight-week, free workshop series presents theory, research, and practice-based knowledge of child development as a foundation for parenting young children (2-5 years of age). Presented by the Interim Director of the Early Childhood Laboratory and Child Development Demonstration Lecturer for the Department of Human Ecology, topics include applying fundamental caregiving skills, supporting social communication, scaffolding self-help and thinking skills; guiding behavior, coaching social competence, applying knowledge of temperament, promoting creativity and critical thinking, and addressing diversity. Consideration will be given to current events and addressing young children’s needs during the time of COVID.
