HDE 192 Internships

Are you an HDE student who has completed HDE 140 and looking to deepen your hands-on experience in a dynamic, real-world early childhood setting? Join us at the Early Childhood Lab School (ECLS) for an internship that blends meaningful service with advanced professional development.

As an intern, you'll become part of a collaborative teaching team dedicated to supporting young children’s growth while applying your academic knowledge in a high-quality learning environment. This is an ideal opportunity for students who are passionate about early childhood education and eager to expand their skills.

What You’ll Gain

  • 4 units of HDE 192 for 10 hours/week of direct service with children
  • 2 hours/week of independent coursework to support reflective learning
  • Opportunity for additional lab hours — compensated with extra units or hourly pay

Your Role Will Include:

  • Setting up and cleaning up indoor and outdoor learning environments
  • Engaging in developmentally appropriate play and interactions with children
  • Facilitating small-group learning experiences
  • Supporting children during snack and lunch routines
  • Assisting with diapering, toileting, and nap transitions
  • Providing individualized learning support, including implementation of action plans

This internship is more than a class requirement—it's a chance to grow as a future educator, make a real impact, and explore the day-to-day practices of a professional early childhood program.
